(Flexible hours or contract work could be accommodated)
We have a growing pipeline of design projects in the UK and overseas and we are looking for an experienced CAD Technician / Draftsperson to join our small team in East Northamptonshire and take a leading role in providing high quality documentation and simulations for our clients.
Your work will vary depending on our clients’ needs, but will principally include the production of electrical construction documents from a brief provided an engineer, or at times under direct instruction from a client, such as:
Your job will primarily involve the use of AutoCAD, and you must be proficient with AutoCAD packages: You will be able to use them without supervision and work under your own initiative to solve both design and CAD-based problems. You also will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of electrical concepts to support your production process. This proficiency will be demonstrated through at least three years’ experience in similar roles in the construction industry.
Experience with AMEP, ACE or Eplan would be a distinct advantage. Prior knowledge of the solar and regularly using specialist CAD packages including PVSyst, Helios3D, Amtech ProDesign and others would be preferred, although in-house training will be available as and when required.
While you may not regularly visit site – this is an office-based role – previous design or site experience would be an advantage, as would an understanding of the UK planning, grid connection and construction processes.
Drafting is about communicating ideas, and you will need to have good written and oral communication skills in English. Competency with standard office packages as appropriate to the role is expected.
We will expect you to develop professionally while you work with us, and to that end we will support and encourage you with related training. In return, we will offer you a chance to make your mark on range of significant renewable generation projects: Our clients are building some of the largest solar and battery projects in the UK and have a growing pipeline of projects overseas. This is an opportunity to work with them and to join a growing business.
Please note that we may soon be moving to a larger office, which is likely to be closer to Oundle/Peterborough.
Flexible hours or contract arrangements are available to the right candidate.
We look forward to receiving your application.
